2nd Announcement
Dear Colleagues,

*** DARK MATTER and ALTERNATIVE GRAVITIES ***
2nd annoucement of an international 3-day workshop

April 20-22, 2006
Royal Observatory Edinburgh,
Scottish University Physics Alliance (SUPA)

A preliminary program, participants list & hotel information
are on the website

http://www.garrywangus.com/alternative-gravities.html

Deadline for Talks: March 3, 2006 [Closing]

Following Bekenstein's TeVeS paper (2004), some 30+ papers have been
written on examining the advantages and disadvantages of
Alternatives to Standard Dark Matter models.

A few recent developments have been on:

- Solar System constraints and tests

http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0602266

- Constraints on the transition between strong and weak gravity in TeVeS
http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0512425

- Constraints on sub-galactic scales (globular clusters and dwarf
spheroidals)
http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0511713

- CMB predictions an linear perturbations in TeVeS
http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0505519
http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0511591

- Lensing predictions in TeVeS
http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0509590

See other recent papers/preprints 2004-now
here.

This workshop hopes to pool these efforts together.
The field is clearly expanding quickly. We hope to bring together many of
those interested in order to discuss how best to proceed in testing and
developing the competing theories, in the beautiful setting of a panorama
of the Scottish capital, viewed from the Royal Observatory.

To compare various theories, we make available on the website the
rotation curves of a few benchmark galaxies,
and we strongly encourage you to fit them with your theory!

Another aim of the workshop is to discuss the strategy of funding
future research in this fascinating field.

Best wishes, and see you there,

The Scientific Organising Committee:

David Bacon (Edinburgh/SUPA)
Benoit Famaey (Brussels)
Keith Horne (St Andrews/SUPA)
